Meadows Update 06/08/09
06/08/2009 00:00Hi all,
Simplicity
After her first start 4th at Sale, she pulled up fine but developed some sort of minor skin infection.
Hence she was put on anti-biotics for a couple of days (at Greg's). This is the cuase of the slight delay in her second start.
Greg was fairly pleased with her 1st race as was Chris Symons.
The plan is now for her to run in the following two races:
1. Sat 15 Aug 09 Moe : Maiden Plate 1200M $12,000
2. Thu 27 Aug 09 Mornington, Fillies and Mares Maiden Plate 1200M $15,000 (3YO & Up)
Keep an eye on the noms and acceptances.... https://www.racingvictoria.net.au/Racing/horse.aspx?horse_code=777802
Bertonic
Was a little disappointing at Sandown yesterday against a weaker field than his last two starts.
However, Moody said before the race he had 'had enough' and was ready for a break.
He may also have run a little too keenly with the winkers on and the muddling pace didn't suit his settle back and sprint late style.... as he ended up about 2nd/3rd in runnning ('upside down' compared to his other city races).
Not sure he appreciated the very sticky track, as the time for the 1500m was the same type of time that they run 1600m on a good track !
As per usual he tried his heart out and after looking gone at the 300m, kept fighting to run 3rd.
That's probably his worst career run so far (?), and he still ran 3rd in the city at 1500m... so my unabashed 'man-horse' love (in a non-biblical sense) remains at a high and unhealthy level.
He's off to the paddock for a very well earned rest and some more growing time, and will be back in Dec/Jan (hopefully bigger and stronger) for a sprint race or two, before being freshened for a tilt at something in Autumn (we hope!).
Sires....
Unfortunately - Bert was not one of them!
'Paris' (Fastnet Rock - Curzon Place)
Will be broken in in the next week or two.
Final standings for first season sires.....
An early name suggestion - 'About to Rock' ?
Cheers
Simon
